SoundSelect support

A menu-bar audio mixer for macOS, from Abounding Media.
Get started
SoundSelect runs in your Mac's menu bar and requires macOS 14.4 or later. Open the menu-bar icon to reveal the mixer, or open a separate window. When you first route an app, macOS asks permission to capture that app's audio; allow it to continue. Built-in help under the gear menu (SoundSelect Help) explains routing, EQ and compression in everyday language.
Route an app to an output
Add a playing source, choose where it should play from the outputs available on your Mac, and set its volume, mute or Dim. Return to a saved route with its levels and audio settings intact. Turning Routing off returns an app to its normal playback output and volume. SoundSelect controls only the sources you route, not all audio sharing the same speakers, and it does not change your system default output or microphone.
Shape the sound
Each source has six-band parametric EQ with adjustable frequency, gain and Q, plus stereo balance, a mono switch and a stereo-linked compressor that evens out the difference between quiet and loud moments. Output EQ shapes the sound of every app routed to the same device. Readable peak meters and a gain-reduction readout help you watch levels while you adjust.
Name and organize outputs
Choose from the playback devices on your Mac, give them familiar names, and hide outputs you do not use. Control each output's own volume and mute, or use Dim to lower it briefly without changing your fader settings.
Control with the volume keys
After you grant macOS permission for volume-key control, your Mac's volume keys automatically control the SoundSelect output you choose while it has an active route. You can change which output the keyboard controls at any time.
Save your setups and back up
Save named mixer configurations for different listening situations and recall them later. Export a settings backup to a file you keep, and restore it when you need to. You can optionally launch SoundSelect at login, with routing off until you enable or recall it.
Good to know
Browser tabs, calls and alerts that share one audio process are routed and controlled together; SoundSelect does not separate individual browser tabs. Multichannel interfaces use their first stereo output pair, and a mono output receives a mono mix. Closing a window leaves playback running; quitting stops routes and returns apps to their native output and volume. If a device disappears, routing does not automatically fall back or restart.
Contact support
Email info@aboundingmedia.dev with your macOS version, the SoundSelect version, which apps and outputs were involved and what happened. SoundSelect has no account and does not record or upload audio, so there is nothing to look up on our end; the detail you include helps us reproduce an issue.
