How Telectern handles your manuscripts, microphone audio and optional diagnostic information.
Who provides Telectern
Telectern is provided by Abounding Media LLC. For privacy questions or requests, contact info@aboundingmedia.dev.
Information kept on your iPad
Imported manuscripts, reading positions and settings are stored locally in the app. Telectern has no accounts, advertising, analytics or manuscript-upload service. We do not receive the manuscripts you import through normal use of the app.
Microphone and speech
Microphone access is requested when you turn on listening. Audio is processed by on-device speech recognition to locate your place in the manuscript. Telectern does not save audio or send it to a server. If English (US) on-device recognition is unavailable, voice following is unavailable and manual reading remains possible. It does not switch to server recognition.
Optional diagnostic logs
Debug overlay is off by default. When enabled, microphone and simulated rehearsal sessions create local logs containing manuscript content, recognized query words, settings and following events. These logs contain no audio and are not uploaded automatically. Exporting a log shares a copy only with the destination you choose. Logs may contain private information; review them before sharing.
Retention, deletion and backups
Manuscripts and settings remain in the app until removed or replaced. Deleting a manuscript removes its library entry, but does not remove your original Word file or existing diagnostic logs. Turning Debug off stops new logs but does not delete existing ones. Deleting the app rather than offloading it removes local app data. Device backups may include app data depending on your settings; manage backups and exported copies separately. Restoring a backup may restore app data.
Contacting support
If you email support, you choose to send us your email address, message and any attachments. These are handled through email services rather than the on-device speech system. Contact info@aboundingmedia.dev with questions about a support message or to request its deletion. Do not send sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.
Photos and external services
Telectern does not browse or import your photo library. Opening a website or using your mail app takes you to that service, whose practices apply. The Abounding Media website uses Vercel hosting, which may keep ordinary access logs as described in the website privacy policy.
